OTTER TAIL VALLEY RAILROAD (OTVR)

The Otter Tail Valley Railroad OTVR) operates 81 miles of track in west central Minnesota between its connection with the BNSF Railway at Dilworth Yard (near Moorhead, across the Red River from Fargo, ND), and Fergus Falls, MN.  Branch lines extend from Fergus Falls to French and to Hoot Lake.

Principal commodities handled on the OTVR are corn, soybeans and inbound coal. Most of the customers located on the OTVR are in the grain business. Numerous elevators are located up and down the line.

Although the OTVR only represents 81 miles of track, the volumes for this road exceeded 10,500 carloads in 2008. With this volume of business, the OTVR is a critical provider of transportation services to this area of Minnesota.
