CHESAPEAKE AND ALBEMARLE RAILROAD (CA)

The Chesapeake and Albemarle Railroad is a short-line railroad operated by the North Carolina and Virginia Railroad. It is located in Virginia and North Carolina and features readymix plants as major customers on the line.

Primary commodities are stone and chemicals. Customers depend upon the CA to provide transportation services for these ready mix plants. The CA offers interchanges between the Class I carriers of CSXT and NS which allow service throughout North America. The over 6,000 cars per year moving over CA network reflects the importance of this road to the metropolitan area between Chesapeake, VA and Edenton, NC.
